What to Expect This DIFC Art Nights Edition

The 21st edition is curated in partnership with Opera Gallery and Christie’s – the first time the auction house has co-curated the event. That partnership puts a stronger emphasis on sculptural displays this time around, with large-scale works positioned through Gate Village’s outdoor spaces alongside paintings, photography, murals and mixed media from local and international artists.

Previous editions have drawn over 200 artworks from 150+ artists representing 100+ nationalities. The 21st edition follows the same global scope with three strands running simultaneously:

  • Visual arts – Outdoor installations and gallery exhibitions across Gate Village. The resident galleries – Perrotin, Opera Gallery, Tabari Artspace, Ayyam Gallery and The Empty Quarter – all open their doors for the event with extended evening hours.
  • Live performances – Music and performance art throughout the four evenings. Expect sets in the Gate Village courtyards and along the walkways.
  • Interactive experiences – Free workshops, artist talks and panel discussions. The programming is designed for browsing – you don’t need to commit to a schedule, just walk through and stop at whatever catches your attention.

Last year’s 20th edition (November 2025) drew over 150 artists representing 100-plus nationalities and more than 200 artworks across Gate Village. The standout was FADA’, a first-of-its-kind immersive installation by Elevision and kanvas that wrapped the walkways in dynamic light and motion – including the UAE premiere of NOWADEUS by Tim Christie & The Grid. Phoenix Art Group staged live painting sessions with 20 artists, and Christie’s Middle East hosted curated panel discussions alongside ZeeArts Gallery. The 21st edition builds on that momentum with Opera Gallery and Christie’s co-curating the 2026 programme.

Combine Art Nights with Dinner

The timing – 5 pm to 10 pm – lines up perfectly with the DIFC dining scene. Start with the art, then book dinner at one of the Gate Village restaurants.

  • Pre-art drinks: Hit happy hour at one of the Gate Avenue bars from 5 pm, then walk through the installations as the evening cools.
  • Post-art dinner: Zuma, LPM, GAIA and Hutong all sit within Gate Village. Amazoico and CLAP are on Gate Avenue, a five-minute walk from the main exhibition areas. Book ahead – Art Nights drives extra foot traffic to every restaurant in the district.
  • Late night: After 10 pm when the art wraps, Moonshine (the speakeasy behind Wise Guys sandwich shop) and St. Trop at the Ritz-Carlton DIFC keep the evening going.

Wow-Emirates Expert Tip: Thursday and Friday are the busiest Art Nights evenings. If you prefer to actually look at the work rather than navigate crowds, Saturday or Sunday between 5pm and 7pm is the sweet spot – the same installations, half the foot traffic, and easier restaurant walk-ins after.

Galleries Open During Art Nights

All Gate Village galleries extend their hours for the event. Here’s what’s within the Art Nights perimeter:

  • Perrotin – The French mega-gallery known for Takashi Murakami, KAWS and Daniel Arsham. Whatever they’re showing during Art Nights will be the most Instagram-documented work of the weekend.
  • Opera Gallery – Co-curating the 21st edition. Expect a flagship exhibition timed specifically to the event.
  • Christie’s – Co-curatorial partner for this edition. Sculptural displays curated by the auction house add a commercial-meets-cultural layer.
  • Tabari Artspace – Emerging and mid-career Middle Eastern artists. The more experimental programme in Gate Village.
  • Ayyam Gallery – Deep roots in Syrian and broader Middle Eastern contemporary art.
  • The Empty Quarter – Fine art photography. The only photography-dedicated gallery in the region.

Practical Tips

  • Parking: DIFC parking is free for the first hour after 6 pm and all day on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Spend AED 75 / USD 20 at any participating restaurant and get your ticket validated for up to three hours free on weekdays, five hours on weekends.
  • What to wear: Smart casual works everywhere in DIFC. The event is outdoors, so comfortable shoes for walking the Gate Village pathways. April evenings are warm but pleasant – around 28-30°C after sunset.
  • Photography: Outdoor installations are fair game for photography. Inside galleries, check with staff before shooting. Most are fine with phone cameras, less so with professional equipment.
  • Duration: Allow 90 minutes to two hours for a thorough walk-through of the installations and gallery openings. Add dinner to either side, and you’ve got a full evening.

Wow-Emirates Expert Tip: If you’re visiting DIFC for the first time, specifically for Art Nights, use it as a scouting trip. The galleries are open year-round with rotating exhibitions, and the dining and bar scene doesn’t need an art event to justify the visit. Art Nights is the gateway – the district delivers every week.
