Conceived by hospitality pair Daniil Chakmin and Hekim Setdarov, Sobremesa feels lived-in from the moment you walk in – the kind of place that makes you undo one more button and pretend you weren’t planning to stay three hours. At the heart of it sits an agave-led bar that hums with chatter, clinks and the polite chaos of a room that’s having fun on purpose. Expect warmth, texture and a design that invites elbows on the table and stories that stretch well past midnight.

A terrace that counts golden hours

Step outside and you find the terrace – part sun trap, part twilight theatre. By day it’s a warm pocket of light perfect for slow lunches and easy conversations; by dusk it becomes quietly cinematic, with the water shimmering below and the kind of air that whispers “one more cocktail.” Whether you’re after a lazy afternoon or a night that refuses to end, the terrace makes a persuasive argument for both.

A menu designed for sharing (and glorious indecision)

True to the concept, the food is made to be explored slowly. Think plates meant to pass around the table, tacos that arrive with distinct personalities, and generous grill dishes that reward patience.

Start light: the Crispy Octopus Salad balances Spanish octopus with creamy avocado, grapefruit brightness and soft queso fresco – an elegant opener that says, “we’re getting somewhere nice tonight.”

From the grill come the big, shareable centrepieces: a Whole Grilled Seabass with tomatillo salsa and fresh herbs for the table to rally around; a Bone-In Ribeye, charred, juicy and built to be savoured with padrón peppers and chimichurri; and a comforting Duck Leg Confit with silky mole poblano, Mexican rice and warm tortillas – the kind of dish that makes the table slow down automatically.

Desserts that close the night with a wink

Sobremesa knows how to end an evening: Churros dusted with cinnamon and cardamom, dunked into warm chocolate sauce and ice cream (and yes, a cheeky pour of Pedro Ximenez Jerez is recommended). The Tres Leches Cake is puddle-soft, lightly indulgent and topped with whipped cream and seasonal berries – sweet, simple, and perfect for sharing without any loud proclamations of restraint.

If the food starts the conversation, the bar keeps it going. Sobremesa’s drink programme is unapologetically agave-forward – mezcals, tequilas and Spanish Jerez take centre stage, and the cocktails are playful, modern and occasionally mischievous.

  • Electric Paloma – mezcal, electric flowers, blood orange, ginger and CO₂. Fizzy, surprising and maybe a little electric.
  • Sito Margarita** – Patrón Reposado with tonka bean, watermelon and nori for a salty-sweet twist that demands a double take.
  • Padre Spritz – mandarin distillate, Jerez, Moroccan tea, cava and olive CO₂; light, aromatic and utterly drinkable.

There are also cheeky signature shots (Creamy Lime, Mandarin Lemongrass) and playful non-alcoholic options like the Señora and Needles, so nobody misses out on the creativity.

Interiors that feel like an invitation

Designed by DA Bureau, the space strikes a balance between sensual and unpretentious. Charred timber sculptures nod to fireside gatherings, a glowing digital sun gives the room a warm wash, and thoughtful lighting keeps things intimate without pretending to be dramatic. It’s stylish but never stiff – more “come on in” than “look at me.”

The Ritual – a tiny welcome with a big personality

Every visit begins with a tasting pour of Tequila or Mezcal served with Sangrita. Rotating monthly with different agave partners, it’s a small ritual that introduces you to the craft behind the glass – and delivers a cheeky first sip that says, “you’re in the right place.”
