RTA Opens Key 3-Lane Connector from Infinity Bridge to Sheikh Rashid Road

RTA Opens Key 3-Lane Connector from Infinity Bridge to Sheikh Rashid Road

4,800 vehicles can now pass through the 1,210-metre bridge in an hour!

Dubai’s got a new traffic game-changer, and if your daily commute involves dodging congestion like a pro, you’ll want to hear this. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) just rolled out a brand-new bridge to make life a whole lot smoother for drivers zipping from Infinity Bridge through Al Mina Street to the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street.

At a whopping 1,210 meters long, this beast of a bridge boasts three lanes and can handle 4,800 vehicles per hour. That’s right—no more staring at your steering wheel in frustration while traffic crawls at a snail’s pace.

The Bigger Picture: Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project

But wait, there’s more! This opening is just part of Phase 4 of the mega-sized Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, an ambitious plan that stretches 4.8 km along Sheikh Rashid Road. If you’re wondering what that means for you, think five brand-new bridges covering a total of 3.1 km, ready to handle a jaw-dropping 19,400 vehicles per hour. In other words, Dubai is out here playing chess while traffic congestion plays checkers.

More Than Just Bridges

And it’s not just about the bridges—RTA is going all-in with upgraded roads, enhanced surface intersections, and two pedestrian bridges (because, let’s face it, we’ve all sprinted across a Dubai road at least once, and it’s terrifying). The improvements extend to key streets like Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street, making your journey smoother whether you’re heading to work or just chasing the best karak in town.

Leadership Vision and Future Plans

Mattar Al Tayer, the big boss at RTA, emphasized that this massive project aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the keen oversight of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The goal? To keep up with Dubai’s rapid urban expansion and ensure the city’s roads can handle the ever-growing population.

And if you’re wondering how close we are to the finish line, RTA reports that 90% of Phase 4 is already complete. Two more bridges are set to open in the next few months, including one stretching 780 meters to enhance movement from Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Street, and another at 985 meters designed to ease traffic from Jumeirah Street towards Al Mina Street and Falcon intersection.

What This Means for You

Oh, and let’s not forget—back in December, RTA unveiled a 1,335-meter bridge with three lanes, another step in making Dubai’s roads flow like a dream. Earlier this year, a 605-meter bridge also made its debut, further boosting connectivity and making traffic jams a thing of the past (or at least a little less nightmarish).

The Road Ahead

So, what’s the big picture? The Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project is a mammoth undertaking spanning 13 kilometers and transforming 15 intersections. It’s designed to improve links between Deira and Bur Dubai, support major developments like Dubai Islands and Port Rashid, and ultimately cut travel times from a painful 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by 2030. That’s a game-changer for the city’s one million residents who will benefit from better road efficiency, safety enhancements, and economic perks worth Dh45 billion over the next two decades.

Long story short? Dubai’s road network is getting a serious glow-up, and your daily drive is about to become a whole lot smoother. Now, if only they could do something about those rogue drivers who still don’t understand how roundabouts work…
