Dubai Opera welcomes a historic operatic event this January as Tamerlano, one of Handel’s most powerful works, arrives in the UAE for the very first time. Presented by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, this grand production reimagines the 1724 Baroque masterpiece through a rich dialogue between European elegance and Central Asian artistic heritage.

Directed by renowned Italian visionary Stefano Poda, the opera draws inspiration from the life and legacy of Amir Temur (Tamerlane), unfolding a dramatic story of power, love, ambition, and fate. With more than 160 performers on stage, the production brings together the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, state choirs, ballet troupes, and traditional ensembles for a truly immersive theatrical experience.

Audiences will be transported through a unique musical world where Handel’s original score is enhanced by Uzbek traditional instruments, newly interpreted by celebrated composer Kirill Richter. Visually inspired by Timurid architecture, the staging blends history and modernity, creating a poetic spectacle that transcends borders 🌍🎼.
