For the first time ever, the UAE’s most beloved dog shelter is launching a Calendar Photography Competition for its 2026 calendar—and it’s not just any old set of cute pup pics. Nope. This year’s theme is “Treat Yourself”, and that means everything from spa days and road trips to decadent snack sessions and Netflix-in-pajamas vibes—starring rescue dogs, of course. Think: glamour shots, but with more fur and better company.
A Calendar With a Cause
For years, the K9 Friends calendar has been a treasured staple for UAE animal lovers—equal parts adorable wall art and vital fundraiser for the shelter’s tireless work. But for 2026, they’re going bigger, bolder, and more collaborative. Instead of just showcasing the pups, they’re inviting the UAE’s creative photography community to step in, take the reins (and leashes), and craft portraits that tell heart-melting, tail-wagging stories. The winning shots will grace the pages of the calendar, get full photographer credits, and yes—there’s even a grand prize cooking for the overall champ, plus a Community Favourite decided by social media votes.

“This isn’t just a photo competition—it’s a way for artists and the community to give back, tell heartfelt stories, and maybe help a dog find their forever home,” says Siddhi Mulaokar, K9 Friends spokesperson and volunteer. How to Get Involved
If you’re a UAE-based professional or semi-pro photographer aged 21+, this is your cue. You’ll need to visit the K9 Friends shelter, follow safety guidelines, and be ready to meet your model—complete with full brief, logistics, and all the belly rub breaks your subject demands.
