Third Avenue Dining Experience Turns Paintings Into an Eight-Course Menu

Third Avenue Dubai has teamed up with contemporary artist Kristel Bechara and Chef Shehab Medhat for “Edible Art: Heart of Chroma”.

There’s a dinner at Third Avenue Dubai right now where you don’t just look at art. You eat it.

Third Avenue at Dubai Mall Fashion Avenue has teamed up with contemporary artist Kristel Bechara and Chef Shehab Medhat for “Edible Art: Heart of Chroma”. It is a one-month immersive dining experience that does something genuinely different. Each of the eight courses on the menu is a direct translation of a painting from Bechara’s Heart of Chroma series. Same color palette, same emotional weight, same story. Just told through food. It’s running from April 16th, with views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain framing the whole thing. If you’ve been looking for a reason to get dressed up and do something memorable this month, this is it.

What Actually Happens at the Table

Third Avenue Eight-Course Menu

The menu reads like a mythology syllabus, and that’s entirely intentional. Bechara’s Heart of Chroma series reimagines iconic female figures from Greek myth through bold color and expressive figures. Chef Medhat took each painting and rebuilt it as a dish.

So you get Persephone as a chicken liver tartlet with pomegranate gel and hazelnut. Athena comes as a salmon tartare with compressed green apple and a golden tuile — clean, precise, balanced, which tracks. The wildest moment is Circe, a theatrical shrimp composition with blue spirulina oil that apparently transforms at the table. Then there’s Artemis, a fermented chili-glazed lamb chop with smoked corn purée that earns its “untamed” label.

The arc is deliberate. You start with transformation and end with Echo — a coconut cake with white chocolate mousse and caramelized rhubarb that’s designed to linger. Like a last impression should.

Eight courses in total, priced at AED 420 for the full set menu.

Why This One Is Worth Your Time

Chef Shehab x Kristel Bechara at Third Avenue

Dubai has no shortage of concept dining. But most of it leans on spectacle over substance, the smoke, the projections, the Instagram moment, without much behind it.

This one has an actual creative framework. Bechara’s art is the backbone, not the backdrop. The collaboration means every dish has a reference point beyond just technique. A story it’s trying to tell, an emotion it’s anchoring. That changes how you experience the meal. You’re moving through something, not just eating through a menu.

It also helps that the setting does its job quietly. Fashion Avenue, fountain views, a month-long window before it’s gone. That’s the kind of combination that makes a Tuesday dinner feel like an occasion.
