Al Mamzar Beach Is Now Open: Here’s What to Expect

Al Mamzar Beach is now open

Al Mamzar Beach in Dubai is about to open with night swimming and it is Dubai’s first women-only beach with various facilities and tech.

Al Mamzar Beach has always been one of Dubai’s more underrated coastal spots, quieter than JBR, easier to get to from Deira, and genuinely good for a relaxed day out. And now, it’s officially more than that.

On 5 May 2026, Dubai Municipality opened Khor Al Mamzar Beach to the public. This is Phase 1 of the larger Al Mamzar Beaches development project, and it follows a directive from His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to expand Dubai’s beaches and position the city as the world’s best place to live by 2040.

The beach was inaugurated by His Excellency, Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, alongside several Directors General from other government entities. Residents of Al Mamzar and Deira, media representatives, and influencers attended the opening, which featured a range of community entertainment and interactive activities.

So what exactly has opened, what does the beach look like now, and what’s still on the way? Here’s the full breakdown.

Khor Al Mamzar Beach: What’s Open Right Now

The numbers on this one are hard to ignore. Khor Al Mamzar Beach spans 2.75 million square feet. The swimming shoreline has been expanded to 3.6 kilometers, a 128% increase from its previous length. The sandy beachfront alone now covers 182,000 square meters after a 110% expansion.

This isn’t a soft launch with a couple of benches and a lifeguard. The beach comes with more than 5.5 kilometers of running, walking, and cycling tracks. There’s an outdoor gym, a beach volleyball court, padel courts, and marine activities like kayaking and other water sports. The region’s first floating walkway is also part of the setup.

On the food front, there are now 19 food and beverage outlets along the beachfront. That’s a 950% increase from the old setup. Public facilities have increased by 400% to 20, with 8 dedicated recreational amenities.

For residents in Deira, Al Qusais, and Mirdif who’ve been driving down to Jumeirah every time they want a proper beach day, this changes the equation.

Night Swimming at Al Mamzar Beach

Night swimming in Dubai is already more popular than most people realize. The three night-swimming beaches currently operating at Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 have attracted roughly 1.5 million visitors within just 18 months of opening.

Al Mamzar now brings that option to the north side of the city. The beach features a 300-meter night beach section that operates 24/7. That’s not a seasonal thing or a weekend-only window. It’s round-the-clock access, which is a big deal for anyone who’s tried to enjoy a beach day in Dubai between May and October when daytime temperatures make it genuinely uncomfortable.

Safety and Infrastructure

Al Mamzar Beach is now open

Dubai Municipality has increased safety infrastructure at the site by 340%. That translates to 12 lifeguard towers and 12 emergency call points across the beach. The project also includes AI-supported surveillance systems, advanced drowning rescue tools, crowd management technologies, and smart luggage lockers. It’s a significant step up from what most of Dubai’s public beaches currently offer.

What About the Women-Only Beach?

Here’s where it’s important to separate what’s open now from what’s still coming. The women-only beach and the wider Al Mamzar Corniche development are part of Phase 2 of the project. When we first covered this story in April 2026, the Corniche project had reached 88% completion.

Phase 2 will include a dedicated women-only beach (Dubai’s first fully enclosed public one), a 2,000-square-meter skateboarding zone, a 5,000-square-meter events area, and a 200-meter pedestrian bridge over Al Mamzar Creek. That phase is also expected to push annual visitor numbers to 7 million once complete.

No official date for Phase 2 yet, but given the pace so far, it shouldn’t be too far off.
