Al Mamzar Beach Is Getting a Women-Only Beach and Night Swimming: Here’s What to Expect

Al Mamzar Beach Dubai

Al Mamzar Beach in Dubai is about to open with night swimming and it is Dubai’s first women-only beach with various facilities and tech.

Al Mamzar Beach has always been one of Dubai’s more underrated coastal spots, quieter than JBR, easier to get to from Deira, and genuinely good for a relaxed day out. But it’s about to become a lot more interesting. Dubai Municipality confirmed this week that the Al Mamzar Corniche Development Project has reached 88% completion. The project brings two things Dubai’s public beaches have never had before: a dedicated women-only beach and night swimming facilities. Director General Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita visited the site on April 7 alongside senior engineers and project teams to check progress and confirm everything is on track.

So what exactly is coming, and what does it mean for Dubai residents? Here’s the full breakdown.

Dubai’s First Women-Only Public Beach With Night Swimming Is About To Open

This is the headline feature, and it’s a first for the city. The women-only beach will be fully enclosed by a surrounding fence to guarantee complete privacy. It is designed to ensure both safety and comfort, including access for night swimming.

The dedicated area will include night swimming facilities, a recreational sports club, and a children’s play area. And the best part about this space is that it is fenced and gated to create a private environment for women to unwind.

This isn’t just a roped-off corner of an existing beach. It’s a purpose-built space designed from the ground up with women’s comfort as the starting point. For residents in the Deira, Al Qusais, and Mirdif areas who’ve wanted a public beach option closer to home, this changes things.

Night Swimming at Al Mamzar Beach

Night swimming in Dubai is already more popular than most people realise. The three night-swimming beaches currently operating are Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1. They have attracted roughly 1.5 million visitors within just 18 months of opening.

That number tells you everything. Dubai residents want the beach after sunset, especially between May and October when daytime swimming is genuinely uncomfortable. Al Mamzar will bring that option to the north side of the city, which currently has nothing comparable. Thoughtful lighting and fencing make night swimming part of the plan, so you can enjoy the water long after the sun goes down.

What Else Is Part of the Development at Al Mamzar Beach

The women-only beach and night swimming are the big draws, but the wider project covers a lot of ground. The development spans 125,000 square metres with running, walking, and cycling paths connecting Al Mamzar Creek Beach and Al Mamzar Park. A 2,000-square-metre skateboarding zone, a 5,000-square-metre events area, and a 200-metre pedestrian bridge over Al Mamzar Creek.

Food and beverage outlets are spread along the beachfront, shaded seating areas are factored in throughout, and fitness zones sit alongside children’s play areas. So whether you’re coming for a morning jog, an evening swim, or a full family day out, the facilities are there.

On the safety and tech side, the beach will feature AI-supported surveillance systems. Along with this, the beach also has advanced drowning rescue tools, crowd management technologies, and smart luggage lockers. It’s a significant upgrade from what most of Dubai’s public beaches currently offer.

When Can You Actually Visit Al Mamzar Beach?

Now, that’s the obvious question you must be asking. No official opening date has been announced yet, but 88% completion puts it close. Dubai Municipality has been clear that the project is on schedule. However, given the pace of development, Al Mamzar Corniche is shaping up to be one of the more significant additions to Dubai’s coastline this year.

If you live on the northern side of the city and have been making the drive to Jumeirah every time you want a proper beach day, it might be time to stop doing that soon. So, my ladies, be ready to swim at night at Dubai’s first women-only public beach: Al Mamzar Beach.
